Lisk ICO: Decentralized Apps Made Easy
Lisk’s partnership with ShapeShift will allow ICO participants to buy into the platform with the crypto-world’s most popular cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash and Ether.
Utilizing JavaScript, Lisk applications can be build from the ground up, and developers can also use powerful Lisk API’s. Each Lisk application operates on its own sidechain, allowing the main Lisk platform to stay “lean and efficient.” Lisk’s main focus is on allowing developers to build custom blockchains for Internet of Things applications, as well as providing responsive designs for mobile devices and dapp hosting.
The Lisk ICO will start Monday, February 22, 2016 and will run until March 21. During the ICO, 85,000,000 LISK — the native token of the Lisk platform — will be distributed to buyers through ShapeShift. For the ICO, Lisk is accepting bitcoin, Crypti, Ether, and any other cryptocurrency supported by the ShapeShift exchange.
Lisk was founded by CEO Max Kordeck and CTO Olivier Beddows. Kordeck is an electrical engineering student, and the former CEO for the NXT Organization. Beddows has 15 years of experience in developing web-based e-commerce applications. The pair first worked together on the Crypti project, an MIT-licensed decentralized application platform.
Now, with Lisk, Kordeck and Beddows aim to provide an “easier alternative” to the ever popular Ethereum Platform. The pair believe that the “simplicity” of Lisk, combined with its use of JavaScript, will allow amateur programmers to develop dapps, which will act as a selling point to draw people to Lisk rather than Ethereum.
ShapeShift is an extremely popular cryptocurrency exchange. Led by CEO Erik Voorhees, ShapeShift prioritizes speed and privacy, allowing customers to instantly exchange between many different cryptocurrencies without creating an account or giving up any kind of personal information. Staying true to their belief in privacy, ShapeShift withdrew their services from New York state in 2015 following the implementation of the BitLicense, which many in the cryptocurrency world believe strips crypto-based businesses of privacy.
